Indian passport holders no longer require an e-Visa before traveling to Uzbekistan. The news was announced on Sunday, August 30, when PM Modi was on a visit to this Central Asian country. As per the rule, Indian passport holders will no longer need a visa if their stay is up to 30 days or less.
However, Indian citizens are nevertheless expected to carry passports along with at least six months of remaining validity. Along with this, tourists should also have a valid return or onward journey ticket as proof of the duration of their visit.
In case the stay extends to more than 30 days or is for purposes other than tourism, like work or study, for instance, then Indian passport holders are expected to apply for a visa.

My visit to Uzbekistan was amazing. Roaming the historic streets gave me so much pleasure! The food, too, is quite different from what my Indian palate is used to. Uzbekistan used to be under the rule of Soviet Russia; however, it attained independence in 1991. And nowhere is Russian influence more prominent than in their cuisine. They also occupied an important place on the Silk Route, which is again made evident in their food, but also architecture. They have these delicious meat-filled fried pockets called Uzbeki Samsa that I still dream and drool about to this day. For adventurous eaters, there’s a lot to explore! I would recommend going there for the food alone!
